Rescue and a New Beginning for a Family with Six Children

A family with six children lives near the front line in the Dnipropetrovsk region. After a drone strike in their immediate neighborhood, one thing is clear: They have to leave. But we do not just want to evacuate them – we want to give them the chance to make a safe new start.

Almost every day, the family has to seek shelter in the basement. The psychological stress and constant danger have a particularly severe impact on the children and make a normal school routine almost impossible. After a Russian “Molniya” drone struck the neighboring house, leaving some of the children with minor injuries, the family reached out to us for help.

We know this family
#

For UA-DE, they are not an anonymous family from a request for help. Our team has visited Dmitrivka several times, supported families there, and also knows this family and their six children.

They cannot afford a safe relocation and a new start on their own. That is why we have joined forces with two Ukrainian partner organizations to set up a support project.

Visiting the family

From evacuation to a new beginning
#

The NGO “Ataman” from Dnipro is taking on the most dangerous part: safely transporting the family of eight and their personal belongings out of Dmitrivka. The organization is also helping with important documents – because no one knows whether or when the family will be able to return to their home.

In the Odesa region, the NGO “German Bavarian House” is supporting the project. A suitable new home has already been found there. The family will receive help settling in, finding school places for the children, and obtaining essential furniture and household items.

Our goal is not to create long-term dependency. We want to support the family during the first four months so that they can settle in, find their bearings, and then regain as much independence as possible.

The relocation is planned to begin in early September. We want to support the family on their journey toward a new life through the end of the year.

What your donation can achieve
#

€5 – helps cover the ongoing costs of the new home.
€10 – provides approximately 1.5 days of food for the family.
€50 – covers utilities and additional housing costs for one month.
€100 – funds half of the family’s monthly food needs.
€500 – provides the planned initial set of essential household items.

In total, we expect direct project costs of approximately €2,920 for transportation, housing, food, and initial household equipment.

Our fundraising goal is €3,500 so that we can also cover unforeseen expenses. If any funds remain, they will be used to support other families or children in need in Ukraine.

Help us turn an evacuation into a new beginning #

Six children should no longer have to seek shelter in a basement almost every day. Together, we can bring this family out of the danger zone and give them the chance to start over in a safe place.

Please support the rescue and new beginning of this family. Every contribution helps.
